1959-1975 Channel Seven by John Quicke former Chief Engineer Channel 7 Perth Part One- Building the first Outside Broadcast van for Channel 7.

This is possibly the first Christmas card from Channel 7 sent to staff with the photograph of the building when it opened in 1959.

Invitation to an Hawaiian Luau 1972

Photograph of the first outside broadcast van at Channel 7 using an Austin 245 shuttle and bodywork by Scarborough Bus Company to John’s design with his fit out with the assistance of Bert King ready for the British Commonwealth and Empire Games using 3 cameras from the studio.

The photo below shows an early shot from a “test”OB, which was to cover the arrival  of a Boing 707 aircraft. This was the first one to arrive at Perth Airport.

Above is the completed inside of the van from the producers console and the photo shows the  monitors for the 3 cameras  and the off air monitors as they look to the Director.

Below is a photo  at the front of Channel 7’s building with Dorothy Baker, an entertainer from GTV9 in Melbourne. She came to Channel 7 on several occasions and this publicity  shot was taken in my first car- a powder blue MGA with the white wall tyres.
